FLETCHER MITCHELL

Fletcher is currently in the final year of an Associate Degree in Music from the University of Southern Queensland majoring on Euphonium and Trumpet. He received his A.Mus.A on Euphonium in 2002 and is currently preparing for his L.Mus.A on Euphonium. Fletcher has been the Musical Director of the Rum City Silver Band for 4 years and was an Instrumental Music Teacher and Concert Band Conductor at the Fraser Coast Anglican College for 5 years before moving to Bundaberg. Fletcher has written and arranged numerous works for Brass Bands, Concert Bands, Stage Bands and Brass Solos which have been sold and played by community bands and schools across Australia. Fletcher has played with many bands including the Sydney 2000 Olympic Marching Band and Queensland State Youth Brass Band as Principal Euphonium as well as performing in bands with Troy Cassidaly and James Morrison. Fletcher frequently competes as a soloist at contests across Australia with great success including winning the Open Trumpet Section at the South-East Queensland Festival of Brass 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005, Open Duet with wife Chrissie at the South East Queensland Festival of Music 2005, the Open Baritone section at the Best of Brass contest 2001 as well as with a numerous wins at Eisteddfods throughout Queensland.
