Youth Band
QUEENSLAND YOUTH BAND
An initiative of the Queensland Band Association Inc.
1. AIM:
To provide a facility for the youth of the movement to be trained by specialists in all facets of banding.
To enrol a minimum of thirty players from within the State in January of each year with a view to forming a Queensland Youth Band.
To further the experience of the members of the Youth Band by inviting prominent conductors to conduct the band for both rehearsals and performances during the week long camp and at any other time throughout the year.
2. MANAGEMENT:
A sub committee of no less than four (4) shall be appointed to include one person from the Management Committee as Administrator with the remaining three (3) positions to be filled by interested persons.
At all times the committee will be responsible to the Management Committee of the Queensland Band Association Inc.
Meetings shall be held as required and as notified by the Administrator of the Youth Band Sub Committee and or Secretary of the Queensland Band Association Inc.
The newly appointed sub committee for the forthcoming camp shall provide to the Association a proposed budget for approval.
3. MEMBERSHIP:
Upon reaching the age of twenty one (21) a member shall no longer be eligible to apply for the Youth Band.
Camp fees shall be determined by the Youth Band Sub Committee.
Each applicant shall be obliged to furnish a completed application form that will state the full name of the applicant together with his/her address.
If under eighteen (18) the application form shall also contain a signed statement by the parent or guardian consenting to the applicant becoming a member of the Youth Band Camp and accepting responsibility for payment of all fees due.
4. REHEARSALS:
An annual camp shall be conducted during the month of January each year with the minimum period for this camp to be one (1) week.
5. REHEARSAL VENUES:
The Youth Band Sub Committee shall arrange for an annual camp to be conducted at venues where suitable arrangements can be made for adequate tuition of the members. The selection of venue will take into account the right of equal access and equal cost to members.
6. ACTIVITIES:
The Youth Band Sub Committee shall organise and arrange for the Band to play at concerts and other public performances where such performances will enhance the standing of the Queensland Youth Band and the aims and outcomes of the band and its members.
7. STAFFING:
All staff shall be appointed each year with new appointments being made for the term of the contract.
Appointment of all staff shall be carried out by the Management Committee of the Queensland Band Association Inc following recommendations by the Youth Band Sub Committee.
Staff being appointed shall comprise of a Camp Administrator, Musical Director, a minimum of one Tutor per section of the band, Drill Instructor and any other Instructors/Tutors as the applications warrant.
A contract outlining fees, duties and conditions of camp to be drawn up by Youth Band Sub Committee and given to each staff appointee prior to commencement of camp and signed by staff appointee in sufficient time to arrange a suitable replacement should the appointee elect not to sign.
8. HONORARIUMS:
Honorariums shall be paid to the Musical Staff of each camp and such payments shall be determined by the Youth Band Sub Committee and approved by the Management Committee. These honorariums to paid at the end of each camp after satisfactory performance of duties and on receipt of a report from the appointee regarding the camp.
