2012 State Champtionships

The 2012 QLD State Championships were a resounding success.

The championship was contested by 15 Queensland bands, across all grades - Junior to A Grade. 

Championship winners for 2012 were:

A Grade: Brisbane Excelsior

B Grade: Cairns Brass

C Grade:  Sunshine Brass

D Grade:  Sunnybank Brass 2

Junior Grade: Brisbane Brass Juniors

Congratulations to the Organisng Committee on their 20th Anniversary Best of Brass which was incorporated into the State Championships for a second successive year (2011 & 2012).  This year's guest Band was Fire and Rescue NSW with Marching Team who featured on the program for the Gala Concert (Saturday night).

Also featured in the Gala Concert was International Guest Soloist - Riki McDONNELL.  Riki  flew into the area prior to the concert and conducted workshops in Maryborough and Hervey Bay, with local instrumental music students. Thanks Riki for sharing your skills and knowledge with our youth.

The weather held off long enough for the Parade of Bands on Sunday morning, which again featured the Fire & Rescue NSW and their fabulous Marching Team.

This year the solo and ensemble competition was moved to a separate date and venue, which gave all bands the public holiday on Monday to travel home (safely).
