Pine Rivers Municipal Band - Percussionist Wanted

The Pine Rivers Municipal Brass Band has a vacancy for a percussionist.  We have a kit for your use and experience with timpani would be desirable but not essential.  We rehearse every Wednesday night from 7.30pm - 9.30pm at the Strathpine Community Centre and regular attendance would be necessary. We are a friendly, non competing band and perform a comfortable number of playouts.  In addition we have two main concerts during the year with audiences of approximately 200 - 240.  These are our annual Seniors Concert in June and towards the end of November we have a Christmas Concert.  These are particularly enjoyable performances for the band.

Please contact Band President, Ruth Voysey,  on 0417 742249 if you are interested.

Trevor Vern Reid:  1930-2011

On the 26th December , 2011, Australian Brass Banding lost one if its great pioneers.

Trevor Vern Reid, also known as "TV", passed away peacefully in Launceston at the age of 81.

Trevor recently received an OAM for his enormous contribution to Australian Brass Banding over a period of 70 years.

Trevor's son Kevin Reid and daughter in-law Cathy are members of Sunnybank Brass, and another of his son's Malcolm, is a member of the Ulverstone Municipal Band.

Trevor was a great mate of Wilf Dyson and Harold "Digger" Walmsley (both dec.), also Australian Brass Band icons.

During his time, Trevor conducted the Burnie Citizens Band, The Circular Head Municipal Band, Latrobe Federal Band and the Armidale City Band.

The QBA and all the banding fraternity of Queensland send their deepest sympathy to his family.
